Life in camp still pursues its rough and ready character (it's remarkable what one can accommodate to) — providing very little emotional or thought stimulation of any sort, except for what ha been provided in the various and shifting beauties of unadulterated nature that I have passed across in these recent months of travel.

I have talked to a number of people who have actually been in the war in the south pacific and even to those who are in it (there are hosts of them around here) and one does get a different outlook on the war process from that offered up in the newspapers written some ten thousand miles away. Our organization among others is now getting a series of lectures on life in the army in New Guinea — and on the operation of the hospitals there in attending the sick & the wounded.

More soon,
Mervyn
