Dear mother, dad & sis,

An interesting incident this morning. I happened fortuitously to be reading in the reaction room (the only room available for such purposes on the premises) when a group of boys gathered to listen to a Mr. Gottlieb who is just finishing an extensive tour of army installations all over Australia and New Guinea as the representative of the Jewish Warfare Board. The JWB, you know, is one of the four organizations which create and now operates the U.S.O. all over the world. Mr. Gottlieb looked familiar, and I recall having run across him at the "Y" some years ago. I introduced myself after the talk — and tho he didn't remember me, we did share acquaintances on the "Y" staff. Unfortunately, there were too many boys clustered around him and we couldn't delve into the matter very much. However when I told him my name he asked me the usual question
