much — if any — is being cut out of them.

As for what to send me: 1. Don't — Don't send any cigarettes. So far, we are able to get a carton per man per week — (which is more than I use) — and at a cost of four cents per pack.

2. Please do send me a few packages of typewriter paper — and some fairly nice stationary (with large sheets). Paper is almost unobtainable around here.

3. Send me a copy of 1. "Fathers & Sons" by Turgenev and 2. Don Quixote, by Cervantes They are both available in the modern library series at Macy. I know that I do have a copy of the latter in the classics collection but I would like to read it now — and it will only get ruined. Anyway the modern libraries are very cheap.

4. Food of any sort — candies — nuts — etc are unnecessary. I don't particularly care for any of it. Besides the transport service is having trouble getting a hospital together for us and can't be bothered with that stuff
